Work in Progress: The images shown here were taken by my grandfather, ethnographer Dr. Werner A. Hartwig, during his 1961 expedition to Mongolia. Inspired by the adventurous stories he recorded in his diary and the remarkable photographs he captured, I am following his footsteps through Mongolia. My aim is to see the world through his eyes, to discover what remains of the places my grandfather explored, and to document with my camera how this vast, timeless land has changed. More soon…
